It finally happened. I was able to wear a skirt again! Thank you weather gods, I sincerely appreciated the sneak peek. Unfortunately, we are back to boots for the time being. Well, on a brighter note - how cute are these studs? I just had to buy them from my very first Rocksbox order, because I couldn't think of sending them back. Good news? You can get your own first month of Rocksbox FREE by using the promo code: simplysabrinaxoxo code. Do it.

RUNNING 101 - 30X30 - Day 28

Polka Dot Sweater: Forever 21 - Similar Here - $43   //   Mustard Skirt: H&M - Similar Here -  $28   //
Heels: JLO for Kohls - Same Here - $30   //   Necklace - eBay   //   Belt: Fiore - Similar Here - $32

I went for my longest/furthest run yesterday and am very proud of myself. As a dancer, running is something that I have never able to do. My stamina and endurance is just not there (although I can dance for 3 hours straight) The last time I ran was freshman year of high school in P.E., so attempting to run without being forced was certainly a reality check of adulthood. Regardless, i've been working towards increasing my distance and decreasing my time. Here are a few things i've learned:
  1. Run outside - It's so much easier then being on a treadmill. If you are anything like me then you will likely get bored and that makes running that much harder, especially when starting out.
  2. Start Small - When you start any workout regime it's important to know your limits. Walk/Run and it's okay if you walk more than you run. As you progress, you will start to see a shift. Give it time.
  3. Get An App - It's so great to be able to track your progress. I use 2 apps simultaneously (there is a reason I promise) Nike Run - which syncs with my Fuelband and 5K Runner
  4. Use 5k Runner - After an initial week of running, start using a 5k training app. I use 5k Runner but there are plenty of options. This app's program progresses with you and gives guidance on when to speed up and run or slow down and walk. I've in my second week of the program and highly recommend it.
  5. Commit - There are 7 days in the week, commit to going for a run for 3 of them. Start with 20 minutes and work your way up. You could watch half a tv show or go for a run in 20 minutes, which is a better use of your time?

This weather is ideal for learning to run. As the days get longer, the evening will be the best time for you to get outdoors. You will want to start building habits now that can carry you into warmer months.

Do you have any suggestions for someone who is starting to run? I'd love your advice!

TUTORIAL THURSDAYS: How To Wear a Dress Like a Skirt

If you have been keeping up with my blog lately (pretty proud of how consistent I have been - If I do say so myself) You know that i'm trying out a few new features here to see what you guys want more of. I've been doing more wishlists (every Wednesday! See here, here, and here), more fashion posts (did you catch this adorable rose gold cuff here?), and more incredible fashion finds (like '5 Shift Dresses Under $50' or '5 Jean Styles for Fall'). I even tried out a "look for less" celebrity style post (here) that got wonderful feedback. Lastly, I had been toying with the idea of creating quick 15 second Instagram video tutorials on fashion, beauty, and a few tips & tricks that I have in my pocket. Last week, I showed you how to do a Ballerina Bun (here) and you guys were so responsive (highest blog views - ever.) This week, I wanted to show you the ridiculously simple way to wear a dress as a skirt. There are so many tutorials out there, but this is my favorite way to remix your wardrobe and get the most out of a purchase.

Please let know what features you would like to see more of in the comments below or through Instagram (@simplysabrinan) or Twitter (@simplysabrina). Be sure to follow me to keep up with all of my style features on the blog!

I really wish Instagram would allow you to upload in HD, because the video quality is pretty awful here. Hopefully the (pin-able) tutorial above gives you an idea of how easy this trick is. All you need is...wait for it... a belt! Preferably a wide belt that fits snug on you. I chose this sweater/dress combination because I wanted the dress to look like a longer skirt, therefore I paired it with a crop sweater. You can use any combination you want!

PRO-tip: You also have the option of using a longer blouse and tucking it into the belt or even allowing the belt to show.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, be sure to let me know what you would like to see next week! Swing by tomorrow for one of my favorite fashion looks!
Happy Remixing!

MAXI

Long Live the Maxi!
I can't believe I didn't wear these all through fall. Throw a comfy sweater on top of this baby and viola! The perfect autumn outfit! I am going to make a sincere effort to post more polyvore sets. I have recently found some new "blog-spiration" and am going to try to revamp a bit. Any ideas?
