It's been a very long weekend. Holidays in our culture fall right around the middle of July and with that comes lots of food & family (totally not complaining!) But...what I wouldn't give for just a day in bed watching a New Girl marathon. Sigh.. Aside from my state of sheer exhaustion,  I am excited for my wedding portraits this weekend! I've been working with the styling team from Anokhi Events to create a beautiful styled shoot and I cannot wait to share it with you all. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks!

PALE PINK SUMMER DRESS

STRAPLESS DRESS: BORROWED - SIMILAR HERE - $24   //   HEELS: LC BY LAUREN CONRAD AT KOHLS - SIMILAR HERE - $41   //
PEARL BRACELET: ATL AMERICA'S MART - SIMILAR HERE - $18

This pale pink dress is a piece that my sister picked up a few years ago (don't tell her I have it) and it's a great dress for the summer and particularly for shopping. I always try to wear a dress when I head out to the shops, it just makes the dressing room dilemma so much more manageable. Once I went shopping with a layered sweater, leg warmers, boots, and a scarf -- never again, I hardly made it out of the fitting room.

But if you know me, you know I love shopping online-- so the "live-shopping" is mostly just good cardio. (The good stuff comes from online ;)

POCKET FULL OF SUNSHINE: YELLOW LACE DRESS WITH ACCENT COLORS

Dress: F21, Belt: F21, Cardigan: H&M, Shoes: GoJane

Last week Forbes published their list of the 'Top 100 Most Powerful Women
and the ones who topped the charts may surprise you. The top 10 is overrun
with international political dignitaries (or their wives) with a drizzle of American
corporate royalty. However, with this list being exposed it got me thinking:
What makes a woman powerful?

I feel like it's easier to define the success of a man. Well, maybe that the
college degree in Feminism talking (No, it's not actually a called feminism,
It's Women's Studies, duh) but as the role of a woman in society shifts,
does her definition change too?

Power can mean a multitude of different things. Power can mean money, fame,
or even fear. Although I don't know what Fobes considers it's formula for
calculation, I do know this. Power to me means allure. It's a sense of control and
charisma that make people attracted to you and want to interact with you.
It's the people skills - after all - isn't that what it's all about?
