COBALT BLUE + FLORAL SKIRT

BLOUSE: KOHLS - SIMILAR HERE - $14   //   FLORAL SKIRT: F21 - LOVE THESE STYLES - $81   //   PINK CLUTCH: F21 - LOVE THESE CLUTCHES - $25   //   HEELS: 'LARK' CHINESE LAUNDRY - SAME HERE - $57

You know when you have your eye on something - and suddenly nothing else compares? That dress you saw in the window earlier? It is the only thing that you could possibly wear tonight. Those shoes online? They would be perfect for your date! Well, I've had my eye on these heels for months - quite literally. I finally splurged when I saw the price drop to nearly 40% off and figured it wasn't getting much better than this. Chinese Laundry never disappoints. What do you think?

FLORAL & CHAMBRAY

So, I took my own advice and embraced the floral skirt. I guess the thought was in the back of my mind when I got dressed in the morning because when my fiance saw me, he quickly said, "Didn't you just post this on your blog?" uh, one: brownie points for reading my blog daily and two: "No I didn't? Did I? Really?!" After a brief moment of panic, he then reminded me of how this is essentially the outfit that I put together in my "Ditch The Black - Part 2" post. Well, c'est la vie!

DITCH THE BLACK - Part 2

I hope you all found my first post of my "Ditch The Black" series last week helpful. It seems to me that when we were younger, we were always told "black goes with everything" and as true as that may be, it trained our minds to see black as a filler as opposed to a color in itself. My goal is to help you see your wardrobe differently and provide inspiration for remixing what you already have.

All of us own a button down, most likely a white and blue pinstripe and when you quickly get dressed for work or school what do you do? Grab the closest black skirt? No. Step away from the black stretchy pencil skirt. Instead, reach for a floral print mid-length skirt. This can be a pencil skirt, skater skirt, even a midi skirt, whatever you already have. Toss on some nude or white peep toe pumps and replace the dull silver jewelry with a spunky bronze necklace and matching gem bracelet. Not only is your outfit fun, but also perfect for spring.

Are you guilty of "excessive black overdose?" How do you fight the urge?

List of things that are overrated:
-Yoga: As calming and relaxing as yoga can be, there can be much better use of your time, in terms of fitness. I did however once end up in a Hatha yoga class which felt a lot more like a therapy session (not that i'm complaining) and thoroughly enjoyed it. All i'm saying is that if there isn't a "hot" or "fusion" in front of the word, you'd be better off subbing the yoga class for a latin flavored Zumba one.

-Poetry: Are we about that age when we all admit that we had absolutely no idea what any type of poetry that we read meant? I mean unless it rhymes, it's not a poem. #sorrynotsorry

-The Mona Lisa: Have you ever been to Paris? Have you waited in the ridiculously long line to get into the Louve? Only to skip all of the amazing art and follow the signs to the one painting that you really came for... and then found out its an 8.5 x 11? C'mon Da Vinci, do better.

-Turning 21: Do I really need to explain? Unless you can rent a car legally & without obscene fees, you are not a full adult. No need for the long speeches about how this is a pivital time in your life.

-Whole Foods: The aisles really are so small. How do people make it to the checkout without fainting of claustrophobia is the real question. Also, do you really need organic Pineapple? Try a farmer's market next time.

Stay tuned next week on "Thoughts for Thursday" for my list of obscenely underrated things.

LAYERS OF FLOWERS: Floral Layering

Sweater Dress: H&M (similar here) - $30
Boots: Rampage (similar here) - $40
(Dress worn as) Skirt: borrowed (similar here) - $18

I saw a great look on Pinterest last week that showed pairs a sweater
dress with a patterned skirt. The look featured a skirt with a narrow silhouette,
but I spiced it up for daytime with some layers. I would be curious to see what
I can do with a straight skirt and a fitted sweater dress, in my head it seems
appropriate for nighttime- so i'll save this trick :)
What's your favorite Pinterest trick?

Hope you guys are preparing for the holidays well- gift guides will be coming your
way soon for my last minute shoppers!
