WEDDING SERIES: Engagement Ring Care 101

So you're engaged? Congratulations! You are over the moon about the new changes in your life and have been showing your new bling off to anyone who does (and doesn't) ask! The first thing that you need to remember is that to keep your bling sparkly, you have to care of it. Here are the simple steps for taking care of your rock from my friends at Anjolee - Diamond Pendants

Frequency: Jewelry should cleaned every three weeks with daily wear, and once every six weeks for occasional wear.

Cleaning: Gentle cleaning can be done one of two ways. 1) Mix warm water with a mild liquid dish detergent and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth to restore luster to your stone. 2) You can use ethyl athohol on a soft cloth to gently wipe down the jewelry. Note: hot water can react with cleaning fluids and can lead to discoloration.

Want your ring to visit a professional? Diamond Pendants offers complimentary cleaning and inspection services. Local jewelers may also clean your ring free of charge.

Taking it off: Avoid wearing your ring when in contact with chemicals like bleach or chlorine. (Pool, spa, or salon included!) Remove your ring before doing rough manual work or playing sports. Gemstones could become loose or chipped.

Extentions: Choosing your wedding band is one of the biggest decision that you will make. This one you actually get to choose! You can choose to change the setting from your original ring or just add to the sparkle. Either way, make sure that the band fits the ring properly.
