WHAT TO WEAR TO A WEDDING: Part One (Semi-Formal)

1   //   2   //   3   //   4   //   5
Wedding season is among us, and I know we all struggle with the most important question: What to wear!? Weddings are spectacular events where you get to witness the beauty of love and reconnect with friends and family. The options above would be perfect for a cocktail wedding, outdoor wedding, afternoon wedding, or even an elegant evening wedding. Naturally, you need to match the dress code for the event which the bride & groom have suggested. These dresses match a semi-formal dress code. In parts 2 & 3 of this series, we will cover Formal (Black Tie Optional) and Black Tie wedding attire.

Semi-Formal Wedding Attire Dress Code:
-A mid to knee length dress
-Form fitting is fine, although stray from "Body Conscious" (this is a wedding not a club)
-Use delicate fabrics such as chiffon, silk, satin, or organza
-If you choose a sleeveless dress, keep the shoulder width relatively thick
-Keep jewelry at a tasteful minimum. If you opt for a statement necklace, compliment it with diamond or pearl studs. Similarly with large earrings, opt for a delicate necklace or go bare

Ways to play it up:
At a semi-formal event, you don't want to be too loud, but there are definitely ways to stand out. My favorite are the big 3: Hair, Shoes, & Makeup. A formal updo may seem unfitting, but a messy updo will highlight those big earrings and make you fit right in. If you love your Choos, then opt for a colorful peep toe pump to add a pop of color. Lastly, a bold red (nighttime) or red-orange (daytime) lipstick with a subtle color dress will show up great in pictures and have you loving the way you look.

I hope this was helpful! Tune in next Friday for Part Two! We will be covering the "Formal" Wedding Attire Dress Code.
